PUCHI NORIEGA is a well known artist, whose works have been exhibited in Peru, Canada, and U.S. Born in Lima, Peru, her interest in art began as a child in the family's ceramic studio. Ms. Noriega has no formal training, however her personal studies of anatomy and the human figure have allowed her to teach sculpture and figure drawing throughout Museums and respected Art entities for 24 years, including The Art Museum of Lima, The Ottawa School of Art, The Ceramic League of Miami, and The Art Institute of Miami. At 18, Puchi was awarded four First Prizes in different categories, at The Richmond Virginia Ceramic Competition. In 1986 she
was commissioned by the Ambassador of Peru, The Right Honorable Oscar
Maurtua, to do a series of sculptures for the highest Government
Representatives including former Governor General The Right Honorable Jean
Sauvé as well as former Prime Minister of Canada The Right Honorable Brian
Mulroney, and in 1992 Puchi was sponsored by the embassy of Peru for her
exhibit Vallejo, and was awarded a Grant by the Ontario Arts Council for
this same project. Throughout her career she has had several solo shows
and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. Her work is in many
corporate and private collections including Nortel Calla, Ft. Lauderdale,
and she has been invited extensively on television and radio shows in
Peru, Canada and the U.S.
She also started working freelance doing facial prosthetics for a local Doctor. After giving birth to her son, she closed the Institute and continued with her art giving private lessons and freelance prosthetics. Although she is primarily a sculptor, her passion for painting and for art in general has no limits, her thirst for exploring new mediums is constantly taking her in an endless journey.
